What is Somatic Healing?

The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma meaning body. Somatic healing is body-based healing that works directly with your physical sensations, your nervous system, your breath, and your felt experience, rather than primarily with your thought and memories.

When we experience overwhelming stress, trauma, or emotional pain, our nervous system responds with survival reactions... fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. These are not choices. They are automatic physiological responses designed to protect us.
The problem is that when those experiences are never fully processed, those survival responses can get locked in the body running in the background like a program that never got the signal to shut down. In Session, I guide you through grounding, breath awareness, and gentle somatic techniques designed to help your nervous system settle. We listen to what your body is communicating. Not by reliving the past, but by working with what is present right now, in your body in this moment.
Emotions may move, breath may shift. The body may release in ways that surprise you, You may tremble, sigh, get really warm or release tears. All of it is welcome. All of it is part of the process.
